Wireless MIDI usually tops out at 1:1 pairing because clock messages drown every radio in chatter — if you approach the problem like a network engineer.

We approached it like musicians.

Sky Bridge strips clock from the stream and regenerates it at every node, phase-corrected by a patent-pending PLL algorithm. It's like NTP, but for tempo.

If the clock source vanishes, the network freewheels with each node emitting accurate time until the clock source returns.

Frequently asked.

How many Sky Bridges do I need?

At least two. Each Sky Bridge attaches to one instrument, and it isn’t a network until two things are talking — a lone unit has nobody to hear it. Most people start with a pair and add nodes as the rig grows, up to 32 on one network. Order a single only when you’re expanding a network you already have.

Why sub-GHz instead of Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?

Bluetooth MIDI tops out around 10 metres of useful range, and 2.4 GHz is a hostile band the moment you walk into any venue with Wi-Fi, wireless mics or wireless IEMs. Sub-GHz RF gives you over a kilometre of line-of-sight range, walks through walls in practice, and lives in a quieter band. The usual trade-off — reliable or affordable, pick one — never showed up: Sky Bridge is also the smallest, simplest and least expensive way to go wireless.

How many devices can I run on one Sky Bridge network?

Up to 32 devices on the same virtual network, with zero setup. There’s nothing to pair — every unit sees every other straight out of the box, and keeps doing so indefinitely.

What does the rotary switch on the bottom do?

It selects one of 16 group IDs — it is not a MIDI channel selector. Units only see other units with the same group ID, and every unit ships set to group 1, so your whole rig lands on one shared network without you touching anything. The switch exists for the rare case where older gear is locked to a specific MIDI channel and needs its own silo: set two units to group 2 and they form a private network, invisible to the rest of your rig. Most people will never turn it.

Why does every other wireless MIDI system stop at 1:1 pairing?

Because MIDI clock is relentless, and a radio network where every node acknowledges and re-requests stale clock messages collapses into chatter. Sky Bridge treats it as a musical problem instead: acknowledgements are pointless in a live room, and a resent message arrives too late to be worth playing. So important messages are sent multiple times with IDs and deduplicated on arrival, while clock and sensing messages are removed from the stream entirely and regenerated locally at every node. Less radio traffic, more devices, tighter time.

Is the MIDI clock actually stable over wireless?

Yes — and it's stabler than what most DIN MIDI cables deliver. Sky Bridge transparently intercepts MIDI clock messages and replaces them with a phase-corrected PLL algorithm modelled on NTP (patent pending). Every node stays locked, even if the source clock briefly drops out. Zero drift, all night.

Which frequency variant should I order?

915 MHz for North America, Australia, New Zealand and most of Latin America; 868 MHz for the UK, EU, Israel, India and most of Asia. They're functionally identical — choose the variant that's legal in your region.

How do firmware updates work?

Open the configuration tool in any Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc), connect via USB, and the firmware updates over WebUSB in under a minute. No mobile apps. No subscriptions.
